10/1/2020   Mid-Autumn Festival Virtual Gathering without Distance

During the Mid-Autumn Festival, the TAG Club of University of the West held an online Mid-Autumn Festival Event, which consist of two main activities: the online lantern making and writing a wishing card virtually. 2020 has been a special year for everyone, therefore the executive members selected a meaningful time to celebrate the moon festival, the eve night in the State time zone and the actual day in Asia time zone, to gather virtually. The event not only invited the students from University of the West but also the students from other universities, in the hope of bringing more young adults together to experience the fun of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The event is hosted and led by the president of the TAG Club, Jia Jun Yap. He led the participants to make a unique mini sky lantern, incorporating the elements from the Zendoodle to serve as a decoration for the sky lantern. The event was participated by 11 young adults. They’re not just making different wonderful mini sky lanterns, their wishes also written on the sky lantern, which is one of the traditions during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Besides, the participants made their wish in the webpage, some wishing the pandemic to be over, some wishing everyone to stay healthy.

The advising venerable of the club, Venerable Zhi Ching, reciting the Prayer of Anxiety written by Venerable Master Hsing Yun to mark the end of the event. Although it is hard to meet each other physically in this special time, the event still served the purpose of bringing the young adults together without distance. We anticipate the next meeting with everyone, no matter virtually or physically. Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
