Fo Guang Shan Hsi Lai Temple, the North American Regional Headquarters of Fo Guang Shan, was built to serve as a spiritual and cultural center for those interested in learning more about Buddhism and Chinese culture. It is the intention of its founder, Venerable Master Hsing Yun, to propagate Humanistic Buddhism and to create a Pure Land here on earth. Hsi Lai Temple is built to fulfill these goals in the United States.
Hsi Lai means “Coming to the West” and signifies the dedication of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order to spread the teachings of the Buddha to those in the West. The International Buddhist Progress Society, a nonprofit organization, is the chartered name for the temple.

Fo Guan Shan (FGS) is a spiritual place for practicing Humanistic Buddhism. Commitments to the society, the monastics, the general public, and the diverse Buddhist undertakings are our priorities. For example, we are actively involved in education, culture, charity, medical care, and various initiatives that benefit the living beings.
If you like our philosophy and agree with our principles, we welcome your support. The tiny trickle of funds will converge into a huge river and become the driving force for us to continue moving forward. Adhering to the spirit of “giving others confidence,” “giving others joy,” “giving others hope,” and “giving others convenience,” FGS Hsi Lai Temple has a convenient online donation system which allows the general public to easily cultivate the field of merit, light up one’s heart and illuminate everyone in this world. 「 Support 」.
