| Let's
Take Refuge in the Rocana Buddha on the Platform of One Thousand Lotus
Flowers : In Buddhism, the lotus symbolizes purity
and detachment. It is also an offering to the Buddha. After cultivating
for countless kalpas, Vairocana Buddha's Enlightenment is adorned with
sublime virtues and merits. He sits on a lotus with a thousand petals
which represents pure wisdom, felicity and the perfection of an
Enlightened One. Buddhists pay homage to him because the Buddha
illuminates the whole universe with the light of compassion and wisdom
to liberate all living beings. |

| Morning
Gong and Evening Drum : At dawn, the sounds of the
wooden board and gong awaken us from the dreams of illusion and mark the
beginning of a new day. During the morning chanting service, sutras or
praises to the Buddhas are chanted in a melodious tune and at the end,
merits are transferred to all living beings, hoping that they too will
be blessed with peace and prosperity. |
The
Cundi Dharani : The Cundi Dharani is the most
important and powerful mantra of the Esoteric Canon, it can be called
the mother of all mantras, and the king of all dharanis. It embodies all
mantras and can be chanted by both monastic and lay Buddhists. This
mantra explains that if one understands that all phenomena are empty in
nature, which is true for everything, and practice accordingly, then one
will reach complete perfection. |

| PRAISING
THE TATHAGATA : "In the heavens and on earth,
no one is superior to the Buddha. In the world of the ten directions, no
one surpasses the Buddha. Among all sentient beings that I have ever
seen, no one is equal to the Buddha." This verse praises the
magnificent and virtuous deeds of the Buddha. Tathagata, one of the ten
synonyms of the Buddha, which means one who is enlightened. In the
Commentary of Great Wisdom, it says, "the Tathagata treads the path
of the six paramitas of generosity, observing precepts, tolerance,
diligence, meditation, and wisdom to become enlightened. |
Incense
Anthem “Pao Ting” :
With this solemn prayer, one wishes for
world peace.
For the world, we pray for peace to last
as long as heaven ad earth. Blessed be Bodhisattvas Mahasatvas under
incense-cloud canopies. |

| Pledges
of Kuan Yin (Avalokitesvara) Bodhisattva : Belief
in Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva originated in India and traveled to China
via the Silk Route. Chapter 25 of the Lotus Sutra explains how
Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva pledged to help all sentient beings with
compassion. If those who are suffering sincerely recite his name, then
the Bodhisattva will hear their voice, immediately relieve them of their
suffering. Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, the one who answers a multitude
of prayers. |
