"Million Member Sponsorship" for Fo Guang University
Background
     The Buddha was the most prominent spiritual teacher in the world and Buddhism shoulders social responsibility playing an active role in educating the public. Prior to the inauguration of Fo Guang Shan, we have already established Buddhist colleges. Within the past thirty years, our primary focus has been on teaching Buddhism to both monastics and laity. Currently, there is a total of 16 Buddhist colleges worldwide. In order to further provide training, and having gained experience in establishing education institution as our foundation, Fo Guang University has been established. Currently, there are three universities situated in Taiwan and Los Angeles, U.S.A. In Taiwan, classroom buildings and student dormitory have already been constructed. In Los Angeles, U.S.A., Hsi Lai University has already relocated to a new seven-building campus since July 1996.

     Promoting education is a long-term project. It requires continuous commitment from the public. In particular, the funds required for building construction are an enormous financial burden. Without strong funding support, the university cannot be completed. However, this is not a project that can be carried out by Fo Guang Shan alone or just a few people. Therefore, the intent of this "Million Member Sponsorship" campaign is to recruit at least one million "University Members," each committed to donate $5.00 USD on a monthly basis for three consecutive years (one term). Together with the dedication of a million people, we can certainly bring our project to fulfillment.

Options
1. "University Member" - Individual committed to sponsor $5 USD or more per month for three consecutive years.
2. "Compassion Member" - Individual committed to recruit 10 or more University Members.
3. "Wisdom Member" - Individual committed to recruit 50 or more University Members.
4. "Radiance Member" - Individual committed to recruit 100 or more University Members.
5. "Bodhi Member" - Individual committed to recruit 500 or more University Members.
6. "Complete Fulfillment Member" - Individual committed to recruit 1000 or more University Members.
