Forty years ago, Venerable Master Hsing Yun planted a Dharma seed in the United States in the form of Hsi Lai Temple. Since then he has visited many different corners of the North, Central and South America. The Venerable Master’s pace has never stopped, nor has he followed a specific plan. Wherever the causes and conditions lead, wherever there is a need, that is where he will go. And where the causes and conditions have opened welcoming doors, Venerable Master will send his disciples there. For the last forty years, the disciples of Fo Guang Shan stationed in various places have worked hard and achieved brilliant results. They have earned many “firsts” and some have played an important role in other causes. All of this can be described as the ‘Buddha’s Light Shining Universally.’
These brilliant achievements are the results of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s effort in propagating Buddhism in America for the past 40 years. We have selected some of these achievements to display in this exhibition. Aside from expressing our gratitude to Venerable Master for bringing Humanistic Buddhism to America, we also hope to look back in our history so that we can continue to build upon the past for a brighter future. We are convinced that the future will be better because the seeds of the Dharma have already spread throughout the America!
