Ven. Mankuang attended the monthly AIGA meeting at Arcadia Congregational Church on June 15th. Due to recent news of the Orlando massacre, the members of various spiritual faiths discussed the need to work together to promote tolerance and understanding.
With different clergy forming a local joint task force, the group hopes to provide a suitable platform for learning about each other’s religions, also to prevent ongoing ignorant misrepresentations and extreme hatred. After summer recess, the Muslim representative will initiate the effort in September with an introductory talk on Islam.
Also on the agenda was choosing a theme for the annual Thanksgiving interfaith prayer event. The idea of uniting humanity in peace seemed like a very relevant choice for this year.
