The meeting of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles was held on March 15, 2016 at Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration in downtown. The Fourth District Supervisor Don Knabe invited Ven. Huidong, Abbot of Fo Guang Shan Hsi Lai Temple, to lead the invocation at the meeting. Ven. Miaohsi, Ven. Youheng, and Gena Ooi from Hsi Lai Temple also attended the meeting, along with 200 participants.
The invocation was conducted at the start of the meeting. Abbot Ven. Huidong read “A Prayer for People of All Vocations and Endeavors” written by Ven. Master Hsing Yun, founder of Fo Guang Shan. Supervisor Don Knabe introduced and praised Hsi Lai Temple for its years of services to the community, and presented a certificate of appreciation to the abbot.
The County of Los Angeles is one of the most important counties in the United States. The county is divided into five districts, each in charge of multiple cities and industries. The Fourth District governs a diverse area including Hacienda Heights, where Hsi Lai Temple is located. The five district supervisors preside over the weekly Board of Supervisors meetings to discuss various topics and issues in the LA county area.
