After the massive earthquake disaster in Nepal, a group of 25 Nepalese paid their first visit to Hsi Lai Temple on Sunday, April 26. They indicated that their homeland is ruined and are looking for a place to pray for their families and friends in Nepal. Since they are unable to return home right away, they want to pray to the Buddha for blessings for their fellow countrymen in such times of immense hardships.
Abbot Ven. Hui Dong gave instructions for holding a special chanting service in the Main Shrine in praying for the victims and survivors and offering of lights for blessing. In reading A Prayer for the Victims in Nepal Earthquake by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, they were all moved to tears.
Grateful for the temple’s inclusiveness in meeting their request for conducting a prayer service, they found the much needed solace in face of such devastation. Before leaving, they asked for copies of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s A Prayer for the Victims in Nepal Earthquake for sending back to their family members in Nepal, together with the blessings they received at the temple.
