Mr. Hsu Zeng-chien, a seventy-year-old Buddhist calligrapher, sent two scrolls of his calligraphy as an offering to Hsi Lai Temple. Mr. Hsu lives in Ji Nan , Shan Dong in Mainland China. He learned brush skills since six years of age and received instruction from various noted calligraphy masters.
After retiring from the court system, he further continued practicing sutra transcription, meditation and attending temple services and Buddhist lectures. When he learned his niece, Wang Ching was going to visit Hsi Lai Temple during her stay in LA, he wrote his calligraphic works, “Buddha” and “Pure Mind Experiences Wondrous Aroma” and asked her to bring them to the temple.
