Los Angeles Mayor Host Interfaith Meeting

In 1952, President Harry S. Truman declared the first Thursday of May as the National Day of Prayer. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and his wife Amy Wakeland continued this tradition by inviting 200 members of all major religions represented in the city to his official residence to join in prayer for the nation. Hsi Lai Temple’s Venerable Youheng attended the event as a representative of Chinese Buddhism.
