Buddha’s Light Publishing at LA Times Festival of Books
April 10, 2016

On April 9–10, 2016 LA Times Festival of Book Fair was held at the University of Southern California. It is the largest book fair in the US, with over 1,000 booths, 600 authors, and more than 150,000 book lovers coming to the festival. This year is the 15th year that the Buddha’s Light Publishing participated in this great event.

Although it was raining on the first day of the festival, it does not prevent a lot of enthusiastic book lovers coming to read and buy books. The entire Buddha’s Light Publishing staff, led by Chief Executive Ven. Miao Hsi, dedicated themselves to manning the booth, with the support by members of the International Translation Center as well as their volunteer Gina. They attentively introduced features of every single book and answered Buddhism questions to the readers, in addition to inviting them to join Hsi Lai Temple activities. Hsi Lai Temple, as always, continued to support this annual event, with volunteer Ching Chausse providing hot meal to the booth staff, and Ven. Youheng, Director of Social Education Department, paying a visit to the festival.

This year, Buddha’s Light Publishing displayed dozens of different variety of books for adults and children. The bestselling books at the festival are Meditation and Wisdom, For All Living Beings: A Guide to Buddhist Practice, and Humble Table, Wise Fare. As for the children, the best seller is the Little Lotus and the Loving-Kindness Cup.
