Hsi Lai Temple 20th "Prayer for World Peace Ceremony"
--Five Religious leaders' joint prayers for world peace

The 20th annual "Prayer for World Peace Ceremony" was held in the morning on January 10th, 2015 in Hsi Lai Temple. Leaders of five major religions including Roman Catholic, Protestant Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Korean Buddhism as well as other distinguished guests from the communities in Southern California participated in this annual event to pray for world peace.

The ceremony was led by the color guards holding the American flag and Buddhist flag, followed by Abbot Venerable Hui Dong introducing the guests to their seats in the main shrine. The distinguished guests included 39th Congressional District Representative, Ed Royce; Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Deputy Director-General, Steve Hsia; Los Angeles County 4th District Field Representative on behalf of Supervisor Don Knabe; University of the West President, Dr. Stephen Morgan; Special Olympic Vice Chairman, Ms. Joann Klonowski and members of Special Olympic team of 2015; BLIA Los Angeles President, Jerry Chen; and about 300 people from the Southern California communities.

During the ceremony, the religious leaders from Southern California such as Rev. Dr. Gwynne Guibord of the Guibord Center, St. John’s Cathedral, Episcopal Church; BK Sister Gita Patel, Hinduism; Ven. Patinya; Ven. Patinya, Southern California Theravada Wat Thai; Ven. Dhammajothi , Dharma Vijiya Buddhist Vihara; Rt. Rev. Alexei Smith, Los Angeles Archdiocese Ecumenical & Interreligious Office Affairs; Imam Subail Mulla, Islamic Shura Council; Ven. Dr. Jong-Mae Park, Korean Buddhism, and Hsi Lai Temple Abbot Ven. Hui Dong offered prayers and their joint wishes for peace in the world, expressed in each of their own traditions.
