Not killing means respecting the lives of others,
as well as protecting all life.

Not stealing means respecting the property of others,
as well as being generous and helpful.

No sexual misconduct means respecting the body of others,
as well as respecting their integrity.

Not lying means respecting the reputation of others,
as well as comforting and encouraging others.

Not taking intoxicants means respecting our own intellect,
as well as learning to to maintain clear thinking.
