CBS MARTIAL LAW STAR JOINS EFFORTS WITH BUDDHIST TEMPLE TO RAISE MONEY FOR VICTIMS OF ABUSE AND NATURAL DISASTER
Hsi Lai Temple, a non profit religious organization, will host its first ever charity fundraising dinner on Friday, October 15, 1999 from 7:30PM to 11:00PM in the California Ballroom of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suite in downtown Los Angeles.  "The Songs of Compassion Charity Dinner" will feature performances from Sammo Hung, star of CBS Martial Law, and renowned entertainers from Taiwan to raise money for the USC Center for the Vulnerable Child , the Five Acres Boy's & Girls' Aid Society, and the victims of the Taiwan Earthquake.
Sammo hopes to convey his concerns for the welfare of our next generation by sharing the hardship of his childhood.  Ms. Bai Bing Bing, a famous Taiwanese singer and actress whose 17 year old daughter was kidnapped and brutally murdered two years ago, will share her personal tragedy with the hope to awaken the public's awareness to crimes against children  The rest of the cast, despite their busy schedules and damage homes in Taiwan, hopes to express their gratitude to the American people and the overseas Chinese community for their generous support toward the people of Taiwan.  In addition, a charity auction will be held to raise more money for the Beneficiaries of the event.
This event hopes to awaken society's  appreciation of life and to heighten the public's awareness of the abuse suffered by our children.  The money raised will benefit various programs at the USC Center for the Vulnerable Child and the Five Acres Aid Society that help nurture abused children back to health and to prepare them for a better future.  In addition, part of the money raised will also go to the Taiwanese people, so that they may rebuild their lives and homes after the devastation earthquake took everything away from them on September 21, 1999.
Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich  also endorses Friday's event at the Bonaventure Hotel.  Mr. Antonovich, Mr. Sammo Hung and the rest of the cast will be available for interview and photo opportunities throughout the evening.  We would welcome a reporter and / or a photographer  to the event and would like to have the press personnel to be our guest(s) for dinner.
